Returning to the nest a generational shift

What's happening to Tamar Ingber's furniture is something of a metaphor for what's happening to her life.

After the 22-year-old moved back to her father's house in Loveland from Philadelphia this summer, she converted the basement into a graphic arts design space, relocating her high school desk there.

She rearranged her bedroom. And she and her father, Rabbi Abie Ingber, are browsing secondhand shops for a new dresser.

"If I find a new one, great, but if not, the old one is fine for now, just like I'm fine with an interim job for now," she says. "My age group is very flexible."

In fact, Tamar and her fellow Millennials' flexibility with their housing arrangements is something of a curiosity to their parents' generation.
